Bat Cave (蝙蝠洞)

Above the surface

Bat Cave is on Xiao Liuqiu (Little Ryukyu), a small island off the southwest coast. The island has scooters for rent, beaches, and the famous Vase Rock. Plenty of guesthouses and seafood; easy to spend a day or two above the water. The “bat cave” is a coastal formation; the dive site is just offshore.

Getting there: Ferry from Donggang (near Kaohsiung); then a short ride to the site. We often combine with Lambai or other Xiao Liuqiu sites on weekend trips.

Below the surface

Shallow reef and sand; good for beginners and training. Green sea turtles are frequently seen here, plus reef fish, occasional rays, and macro. Depths mostly 5–12 m. Visibility varies with season; generally good. Often used for courses and fun dives.
